MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls Middle School landed a new principal after a school board meeting March 24.

“New,” however, is relative, considering the man named to the spot already has been serving in that capacity since January. BURNET — A Burnet County jury convicted a 37-year-old man on two counts of indecency with a child March 18, but the district judge virtually ensured the molester would never walk the streets again by leveling two life sentences and then “stacking” them. MARBLE FALLS — Police cut a protest and campaign stump short during the lunchtime rush March 19 for a volunteer with state runoff candidate Kesha Rogers, who is vying for the Democrat nomination for U.S. Senate.

Ema Reuter, who pitched an umbrella and handed out materials in the 1500 block of RR 1431, works with the Houston-based LaRouche Political Action Committee for Rogers. BUCHANAN DAM — A 12-year-old Burnet Middle School student died March 18 after a car struck him and the small motorbike he was riding on Texas 261.

KINGSLAND — The Kingsland/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce is throwing a “Kaleidoscope of Color” party for the community and businesses, and you’re invited.

The annual awards banquet is March 21 at the Kingsland Community Center, 3451 Rose Hill Drive.

LLANO — Llano City Council members approved a 12 percent increase in salary and extended the length of the city manager’s contract from one year to 18 months in light of his work on both city and economic development projects, officials said.

HORSESHOE BAY — Lake LBJ becomes the hot spot of high school fishing March 14-16 when the 2014 Student Angler Federation Texas High School Fishing State Championship hits the water.

This is the second year in a row the Marble Falls High School Bass Fishing Team and Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce has hosted the event. Two-person teams made up of students in grades 9-12 will be competing for scholarships and prizes and a shot at the national championships later this year. MARBLE FALLS — After almost two hours in executive session March 4 to discuss the hiring of an assistant city manager, the Marble Falls City Council went in a new direction.
