LLANO — Voters approved a $33.4 million bond proposition May 10, which improves, expands and upgrades facilities, security resources, maintenance, transportation and technology systems throughout the Llano Independent School District, according to unofficial voting results from the Llano County elections administrator. KINGSLAND — Rafael Cruz, a pastor and the father of U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), will speak about freedom and the threat of losing it during a program May 15 at the Kingsland Community Center.

MARBLE FALLS — Officers in special-operations tactical units train to adapt to body armor and gear weighing about 50 pounds “fully loaded” with ammunition compartments, emergency tools and other crime-fighting and rescue equipment.

“It’s on your shoulders, so it’s not like carrying it on a handle or out in front of you,” said Lt. Steve Eckstein of the Marble Falls Emergency Services Unit Tactical Team. “The team is at a higher fitness level than most. MARBLE FALLS — One more candidate is in the mix for the Marble Falls city manager as the council will begin face-to-face interviews May 12.

David Harris, the Schertz assistant city manager, initially requested Marble Falls pull his name off the list after he apparently landed another city manager job. MARBLE FALLS — Marble Falls Independent School District Superintendent Rob O’Connor began the process of finding the next head football coach and athletic director at Marble Falls High School on May 2.

Todd Dodge resigned the position to take the same job at Austin Westlake, the school that made his father-in-law, Ebbie Neptune, a household name. MARBLE FALLS — Head football coach and athletic director Todd Dodge has traded in his Marble Falls High School purple and gold for Austin Westlake red, blue and silver.
