MARBLE FALLS — A budding craft brewery will unveil its first ale to the public while campaigning to expand Marble Falls’ boundaries allowing for the sale of alcohol on premises to include areas annexed in the past two decades.

MARBLE FALLS — After going through 58 city manager applications, the Marble Falls City Council trimmed the number down to six for interviews during a special meeting April 29.

The council members will begin sitting down with the six candidates the week of May 12. The search for a new city manager became a necessity after former city manager Ralph Hendricks was severely injured in a bicycle accident in October 2013. BURNET — A fourth bomb scare at Burnet Middle School on April 30 disrupted sixth-grade classes for several hours as Burnet police and fire crews searched the sixth-grade campus.

Officials reported about 10:45 a.m. the same day that no device was found and all the students had returned to classes and lessons were resuming as normal. A posting on the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District Facebook page about 9 a.m. stated school officials were moving sixth-graders to the middle school auditorium as police and fire units swept the sixth-grade campus. LLANO — With the promise of no tax-rate hike, Llano Independent School District officials hope voters will pass a $33.4 million bond package to improve, expand and upgrade facilities, security resources, maintenance, transportation and technology systems throughout the district.

HORSESHOE BAY — The Scott & White Healthcare Foundation has received a $2.9 million gift from the Lake Area Health Center Foundation in Horseshoe Bay.

The donation includes the two Horseshoe Bay clinic facilities and land along with $400,000 cash, and it has boosted the funds for the Hurd Regional Medical Center in Marble Falls to $13.5 million, surpassing the halfway mark for the campaign goal. LLANO — Bronze isn’t such a bad color when it means you’re among the top 15 percent high schools in the country.

That’s just what Marble Falls High School and Llano High School learned April 22 when the U.S. News and World Report released its 2014 Best High Schools rankings. The magazine awarded both schools bronze medals as “high-performing schools based on state exam performance.” The top two awards were gold and silver. MARBLE FALLS — A note stating a bomb threat was discovered at 7:27 a.m. April 24 on the door of a Head Start building at Marble Falls Elementary School, forcing officials to move students to a playground on the other side of the campus.
