BURNET — Two years ago, Burnet Consolidated Independent School District officials chose to stop drug testing students involved in extracurricular activities because of a projected budget deficit.

Recently, district officials discussed the possibility of reviving the practice. But school board members balked at a proposed punishment that didn’t include a suspension from extracurricular activities after a first offense. BURNET — A $10,000 anonymous donation to the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District athletic department will be used for improvements at Bulldog Diamonds.

BCISD business manager Sarah Cervi asked the BCISD board of trustees to approve accepting the donation during the regular meeting Nov. 18 in accordance with a board bylaw, which stipulates the members must vote to accept donation more than $5,000. MARBLE FALLS — Power has been restored after an outage struck a swath of Marble Falls the morning of Nov. 13.

The outage, which occurred about 8 a.m., appeared to impact about 600 electrical meters of residential and commercial along RR 1431 from Granite Mountain to just east of U.S. 281. It also spanned north and south of RR 1431 for several blocks.

MARBLE FALLS — Investigators are trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of a man pulled from Lake Marble Falls just off the 400 block of Los Escondidos Drive on Nov. 11.

BURNET — Ronald Harrod says youth who realize and honor the contributions of military service men and women can strengthen and unite a community.

“We need more unity in everything we do. MARBLE FALLS — Even though school officials insisted the passage of a $6.5 million bond proposal wouldn’t increase the Marble Falls Independent School District tax rate and  and would benefit students, voters denied the additional funding.
