BURNET — Fire crews responded to a residential fire Nov. 20, but, by the time they arrived, there was little they could do to save the structure.
A property owner discovered a manufactured home on his land north of Burnet on fire at 6:16 a.m.
The blaze engulfed the structure in the 4300 block of U.S. 281 North before fire crews arrived at the scene.
The occupant was not home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were sustained from the blaze, Burnet Fire Department Chief Mark Ingram said.
“The owner lives behind the home, and, as he was leaving, he’d seen a glow over there, and he’s the one who reported it,” Ingram said.
The Burnet department responded with one engine, and the Burnet Volunteer Fire Department also responded with two fire trucks.
Burnet Fire Marshal John Erskine said the cause of the fire remains under investigation, although foul play is unlikely.
“Electrical power to the structure was possibly provided by an extension cord,” he said.
The mobile home was destroyed by the blaze; however, no other structures or property were damaged.
