MARBLE FALLS — The 2015 Marble Falls High School homecoming week is upon us. So for the Mustang faithful, fans and family, it’s time to get out the purple and gold and join in the fun.

Homecoming is a chance for former students to “come home” and reconnect with friends of the past. But it’s also just a great opportunity for the community to celebrate the school, students and “being a Mustang.”

In fact, you don’t have to be a MFHS graduate to enjoy the festivities. It is a great way to feel a part of the Mustang family, however.

The homecoming festivities run this entire week culminating Oct. 9 when the Marble Falls Mustangs host the Georgetown Eagles at 7:30 p.m. at Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Drive. Officials will crown the 2015 homecoming king and queen during the game.

But one of the biggest events is Oct. 8: the annual homecoming parade.

The parade starts at Marble Falls Middle School, 1511 Pony Circle. Lineup is in front of the middle school loop with the parade rolling out at 6 p.m.

The parade will take Northwood Drive north through the neighborhood to the Marble Falls Independent School District central office, 1800 Colt Circle.

To ensure the safety of the students and kids lining the parade route, float participants are asked to stay seated and throw soft candies well clear of the streets. Drivers can’t always see a small child darting in front of a vehicle trying to scoop up a couple of pieces of candy.

Parade onlookers should also stand well off the road, but also stay out of people’s yards.

The parade culminates with a pep rally and bon fire adjacent to the central office. Community members who want to participate in the pep rally and bon fire can simply follow the parade and its participants to the site.

Community and school organizations interested in participating in the parade can contact Renee Grumbles at (830) 693-4375 ext. 8002 during regular business hours or rgrumbles@mfisd.txed.

And don’t forget to get your mums.
