LLANO — Hours after the Llano High School football team’s 20-17 double-overtime loss to Brady on Sept. 12, Yellow Jackets head coach Craig Slaughter put the task at hand in focus.

MARBLE FALLS — When the city of Marble Falls annexed the Rocky Road area and Lake Marble Falls subdivision about six years ago to pave the way to annexing the Flat Creek area south of town, the residents didn’t oppose the idea because they thought it would bring additional services and improvements for them and their properties.

Now, with the city considering charging the Rocky Road and Lake Marble Falls subdivision property owners an additional $160 per month per parcel for the next two decades for those improvements, the affected residents feel like they’re between a rock and a hard place. BURNET — The first “Map Your Way to Burnet” plein air festival and exhibit is turning into a national affair, and one to which everybody is invited — even if you’re not sure what “plein air” means.

Plein air basically means painting “in the open air.” In other words, artists will scatter across Burnet and the courthouse square, set up their easels and paint the scenery: landscapes and cityscapes as well as anything else that catches their attention.
