Hill Country Memorial Surgery Center in Marble Falls will close its doors on March 31. The center at 204 Gateway North is no longer matching the needs of residents, according to an evaluation by officials at Hill Country Memorial Hospital in Fredericksburg, which owns the clinic.
The surgery center offers general outpatient surgery, obstetrics, and gynecology.
The closing comes on the heels of the acquisition of Hill Country Memorial Hospital by San Antonio Methodist Hospital, announced in November.
HCM’s new specialty clinic, which opened in May 2022 at 801 Steve Hawkins Parkway, will remain in business. It provides physical therapy, outpatient imagery, and speciality services in internal medicine and ear, nose, and throat.
“We’ve determined that’s the most appropriate service to provide in the community,” said Amanda Stevens, chief strategy officer for Hill Country Memorial Hospital. “We are committed to continuing to invest deeply in Marble Falls and the Highland Lakes area.”
San Antonio Methodist Hospital will assume ownership of the entire HCM care network at the end of March.
The acquisition had no bearing on the decision to close the surgery center, Stevens said.
“This is really about making sure we provide the right care for the Marble Falls community,” she said. “We’re deepening our service and care related to the specialty clinic we have (in Marble Falls). We feel that’s most responsive to the patients, best suited to the community, and responding to the local health needs.”
