LLANO — The Texas Well Owner Network is hosting a well screening so residents can have their water tested.

BURNET — Burnet High School senior pitcher Taylor Barksdale signed a letter of intent April 30 to play for Temple College for the 2015-16 school year.

BURNET — After a three-year hiatus, the Burnet High School softball team has qualified for the playoffs and will try to win a postseason contest for the first time in the program’s history.

The Lady Dawgs (18-4-2 overall, 8-2 co-District 25-4A champions) meet Gonzales (14-14, 7-5 in District 26-4A ) in a best-of-three bi-district series that begins at 7 p.m. April 30 at Canyon Lake High School, 8555 RM 32 in Fischer. Game 2 is 6 p.m. May 1 at Bastrop Cedar Creek, 793 Union Chapel Road in Cedar Creek. The Llano High School Drama department will present a public performance of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ at 4 p.m. May 3 in the auditorium at Llano High School, 2509 Texas 16 in Llano. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. This adaptation was presented for the University Interscholastic League One Act Play contest, and three students received honors: Logan Simpson (Puck), All Star Cast; Jaiden Napolez (Lysander), Honorable Mention All Star Cast; and Logan Ashabranner, Outstanding Technician Award. The cast includes Dorian Green (Theseus), Janae Watson (Hippolyta), Cory Clausen (Egeus), Joan Albor (Hermia), Anthony Watson (Demetrius), Megan Owens (Helena), Morgan Thibodeaux (Fairy 1), Joey Albor (Oberon), Kacy Rowley (Titania), Chris King (DJ Fairy), Jaiden Sprey and Janae Watson (Fairy Chorus), Lance Cox (Bottom).
