ABILENE — The term “3-P” in Olympic-style shooting refers to “three-position,” but to the Burnet County 4-H shooting club, it stands for three-peat as the team dominated the District 7 competition April 25 for a third straight year. 

Wyatt Harrell of Burnet was the only club senior (14- to 18-year-old division) competing this year. He shot a 162 for a new personal best but did not advance to the state shooting competition, which is for high school students only. HORSESHOE BAY — Horseshoe Bay is preparing to hire replacements for its fire and police chiefs after one agency leader recently resigned and the other is retiring, officials say.

FREDERICKSBURG — Attending a rodeo in Burnet changed the lives of filmmaker Noessa Higa and rodeo clown Ronald Burton.

That rodeo convinced Higa that she had discovered a story worth sharing with others. And that story became her sports documentary, “Man in the Can,” which premieres at 2:30 p.m. May 1 at the Hill Country Film Festival in Fritztown Cinema, 2254 U.S. 87 South in Fredericksburg.
