LLANO — After a March primary, a May run-off and a June recount, the race for the Republican nomination for the Llano County Precinct 2 justice of the peace comes down to a coin flip June 12.

During the Republican primary in March, Linda Ballard and Steve Lange were the top two vote-getters in a five-way race, forcing them into a run-off. BERTRAM — The Bertram City Council will discuss the search for a new police chief during its regular meeting June 10 after the resignation of Chief Tracy Weems.

COTTONWOOD SHORES — City Council members reasserted their support for the Cottonwood Shores Volunteer Fire Department during their regular meeting June 5, rescinding their previous vote of no confidence.

BRIGGS — The Texas Department of Public Safety reported two fatalities on the same stretch of road within days of one another in northern Burnet County.

MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls Parks and Recreation Commission heard from the smallest stature of citizens during its regular monthly meeting June 2.

Commissioner Mark McCary presented the commission with a stack of notes he received from third-graders at Marble Falls Elementary School. McCary was invited to the campus and took the time to ask the students their thoughts on the city’s parks. HORSESHOE BAY — As a teenager visiting for summer vacation in the 1970s, Geneva Dalton developed a fondness for Lake LBJ and its features.
