BURNET — A day after Burnet Consolidated Independent School District voters passed a $26.7 million bond, athletic director Kurt Jones expressed gratitude.

LLANO — With no local Democrats in the mix, Llano County Republicans smoothly sailed into office Nov. 4 following elections.

Mary Cunningham earned the Llano County judge’s spot by capturing 5,910 votes. She had no opponent, Democrat or other. Rebecca Lange won the Llano County attorney spot with 5,923 votes. And Joyce Gillow remained Llano County district clerk with 5,919 votes.

Other winners include:

  • Marci Hadeler for county clerk
  • Teresa Kassell for county treasurer
  • Fred Thompson for county surveyor
  • Linda Raschke for Precinct 2 county commissioner
  •  Jerry Don Moss for Precinct 4 county commissioner
  • Beatrice “Bebe” Piatt for Precinct 1 justice of the peace
  • Linda Ballard for Precinct 2 justice of the peace
  • Era Marion for Precinct 3 justice of the peace
  • Brian Alexander for Precinct 4 justice of the peace
  • Gary Olfers for Precinct 1 constable (unexpired term)

All were unopposed Republicans.

The county voters also kept with the Republican Party at the state races by backing John Cornyn for U.S. senator and Mike Conaway for District 11 U.S. representative.

Greg Abbott earned 79 percent, or 5,528, of the Llano County votes for Texas governor with Democrat Wendy Davis earning 19 percent, or 1,360 votes.

Dan Patrick, a Republican, earned 5,479 of Llano County votes for lieutenant governor with Democrat Leticia Van de Putte getting 1,270 votes.

Llano County residents also voted:

  • Attorney General — Republican Ken Paxton 5,502; Democrat Sam Houston 1,259
  • Comptroller of Public Accounts — Republican Glenn Hegar 5,420; Democrat Mike Collier 1,272
  • Commissioner of the General Land Office — Republican George P. Bush 5,576; Democrat John Cook 1,121
  • Commissioner of Agriculture — Republican Sid Miller 5,451; Democrat Jim Hogan 1,217
  • Railroad Commissioner — Republican Ryan Sitton 5,415; Democrat Steve Brown 1,210

In Horseshoe Bay, voters elected three people to the council. Those are Jerry Gray (783), David Pope (655) and Craig Haydon (649). The fourth candidate, Donald Beeman, garnered 601 votes. The results reflect vote tallies in both Llano and Burnet counties.

Winners of the Llano County races will be sworn in Jan. 1, 2015.

MARBLE FALLS — When the Marble Falls Parks and Recreation Commission members all voted “yea” to a possible dog playground, canines across the city wagged their tails in approval.

MARBLE FALLS — It might come as a surprise to many people traveling in and around Marble Falls, but U.S. 281 is not Main Street.
