LLANO — The Llano County commissioners instituted a county-wide burn ban June 24.

Under the ban, no open fires are allowed. If cited, a person faces a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine up to $500. Continue reading “Llano County issues burn ban”

Area fire crews battle a structure fire in the 200 block of CR 144A in the Tobyville area June 21. Marble Falls Area Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze just before 1 p.m. with Granite Shoals Fire Department and Horseshoe Bay Fire Rescue helping out. The fire destroyed a 60-foot-by-40-foot metal barn adjacent to a residence. Fire officials said nobody was injured, and the cause remains under investigation. Staff photo by Daniel Clifton

COTTONWOOD SHORES — A proposal to rezone a portion of east Cottonwood Shores for an animal shelter and the election of a replacement for a vacant council position were put off until later meetings.

MARBLE FALLS — Five bills signed into law by Gov. Rick Perry have local brewers, and those who enjoy craft beer, raising a toast to new opportunities.
