Olympian Leonel Manzano meets president and stars
PASADENA — U.S. Olympian Leonel Manzano has enjoyed a very busy weekend Sept. 14-16.
The former Marble Falls Mustang’s first stop was the White House, where he met President Barack Obama on Sept. 14. The president invited members of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team. Manzano captured the silver medal in the men’s 1,500 meters, becoming the first American to medal in the Olympics in 44 years.
Then the former Granite Shoals resident attended the American Latino Media Arts Awards, which honors Latinos in music, movies, film and other mediums. ALMA organizers also honored the 2012 Olympians.
At the event, Manzano was photographed with actors Cheech Marin, Eva Longoria, George Lopez and Andy Garcia and producer Robert Rodriguez.
The ceremony will be broadcast on NBC at 7 p.m. Sept. 21.
