Mustangs, Bulldogs compete in weekend cross-country meets

Lady Mustangs second, Mustangs 10th out of 16 teams at Lockhart meet

LOCKHART — The Lady Mustangs’ depth came through at their second cross-country meet of the year Sept. 1. And for the second consecutive meet, Marble Falls finished second.

The boys team also finished in the top 10 for the second straight meet.

Both divisions had 130 runners participating.

RESULTS: Varsity boys — 4th, Jordan Wright, 9:46, 42nd, Chance Daniels, 10:43, 43rd, Jesse Arreugin, 10:43, 50th, D’Anthony Wall, 10:54, 106th, Colten Hagood, 11:54

Varsity girls — 7, Sarah Stripling, 12:24, 9th, Tess Johnson, 12:26, 10, Haley Stephens, 12:28, 15, Katelyn Corley, 12:42, 42nd, Nydia Castro, 13:28, 114th, Chase Martin, 15:13

Junior varsity boys (150 runners) – 67th, Ishmael Montoya, 12:26, 112th, Tait Johnson, 12:43, 114th, Daniel Mata, 13:01

Bulldogs, Lady Dawgs compete in the Run for Your Oats meet

BERTRAM — Burnet High School’s top male and female cross-country runners lived up to their billings. Both Joe Parker and Kathryn Drake won the men’s and women’s divisions at the Run for Your Oats meet Sept. 1 during the Oatmeal Festival.

RESULTS: Boys — Joe Parker, 18:45, Sky Wood, 20:43, Weston Ramos, 20:58, Will Kyle, 21:23, Trevor Turner, 23:11, Cole Lastly, 24:27

Girls —  Kathryn Drake, 22:22, Autumn Freasier, 25:29, Hannah McCurry, 26:05

QUOTABLE: “This is always a fun race for the athletes because of all the different age runners in the race with them. This event is also a great way to start the true cross-country race portion of our season by running a 3.3-mile course,” Burnet head coach Stuart Dixon said.
