BURNET — The Marble Falls girls cross-country team of Katelyn Corley, Haley Stephens and Sarah Stripling placed second in the Class  4A-5A division of the Bulldog Relays at Reveille Peak Ranch on Aug. 25. The other team of Tess Johnson, Darby Hibbs and Yanna Gallyamova were fifth overall.

Sixteen teams from across the area were in attendance, and Marble Falls beat teams such as Round Rock Westwood and Leander High. The event was a relay, which allowed squads to divide into teams of three. Each athlete ran 1.5 miles.

Mustangs score top 10 finish at Bulldog Relays

BURNET — As great as head coach Anthony Torns felt about the Mustangs’ finishes at the Bulldog Relays, he believes there’s room for the boys to be even better.

The team of Jordan Wright, Jesse Arreguin and D’Anthony Wall were sixth in the Class 4A-5A division, while the team of Chance Daniels, Nick Cano and Colten Hagood was ninth.

Daniels missed all of the July workouts and started two weeks ago. For him to run the way he did shows a lot of potential, Torns said.

Another team, Tait Johnson, Israel Montoya and Daniel Mata, also competed.

RESULTS: 6, MF 1 (Jordan Wright, 7:31, D’Anthony Wall, 8:14, Jessie Arreguin, 8:07), 23:52; 9, MF 2 (Chance Daniels, 7:54, Nick Cano, 8:07, Colten Hagood,8:01), 24:02. Burnet 1 (Joe Parker, 7:50, Weston Ramos, 9:28, Will Kyle, 9:03), 26:31; Burnet 2 (Nick Menchaca, 8:44, Cody Cowan, 9:06, Trevor Turner, 9:06), 16:56.

QUOTABLE: “All of the guys ran really well,” Torns said.
