Bulldogs cross-country team places second at the Pflugerville Invitational

PFLUGERVILLE — Even the rain couldn’t slow down the Burnet High School boys cross-country team led by Joe Parker, who was second out of 54 runners in the boys division Sept. 14.

Kathryn Drake was fifth out of 47 runners in the girls division.

For years, head coach Stuart Dixon said, the Burnet High School runners were known as the “Dust Dawgs” because of “drought-ridden years.” With the recent heavy rains, Dixon changed the team name to the “Mud Dawgs.”
