Emergency preparedness fair March 29

The Pedernales Electric Cooperative is partnering with Burnet County for the Ready as One Community Preparedness Fair, a free, family-friendly event from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at Marble Falls High School, 2101 Mustang Drive. The fair is a “one-stop shop” for emergency preparations.

Over 30 agencies will participate, providing residents with valuable information on emergency response protocols, disaster readiness, and available community services.

“PEC’s history is built upon bringing people together to improve our communities, and this event is an extension of that mission,” said Beth Koennecke, PEC External Relations representative, in a media release about the fair. “The work we put in today will help keep our communities strong and prepared for whatever challenges the future may bring.”

Attendees can visit with first responders, participate in hands-on emergency response demonstrations, and learn the details of coping with extreme weather. Among the day’s activities are PEC bucket truck demos and a Baylor Scott & White mobile blood drive with free blood-type testing.

Each person at the event can get one Kona Ice on the house, courtesy of PEC. Miss Vickie’s Food Truck and Numinous Coffee will have food and drinks for sale.

Kids can enjoy a bounce house and meet mascots Wattson Raccoon and Sparky the Fire Dog from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Helping Center of Marble Falls will take donations of non-perishable food items throughout the day.
