The rebirth of Granitefest is all day Saturday, March 22, at Quarry Park, 2221 N. Phillips Ranch Road in Granite Shoals. The festival will no longer feature fireworks due to high winds and dry conditions, but the scheduled car show, carnival, cornhole tournament, live music, vendor market, and more are still on.
The free event is back after a 2024 hiatus and is expected to be bigger and better than ever. Organizers have doubled their efforts, expanding the festival from a community celebration into a regional event.
“This is a kickoff to showcase our amazing venue (Quarry Park),” Granite Shoals Marketing Specialist David Frank told DailyTrib.com. “We’re reaching out as far and wide as we can, and we’re looking at it as a Highland Lakes festival.”
The day was supposed to be capped off with a fireworks show, but that was canceled by the city due to concerns over steady winds and exceedingly dry conditions. The Highland Lakes area has been under several recent wind advisories and red flag warnings, including Wednesday.
This weekend, expect clear skies and highs in the 80s.
The Thomas Carnival sets up Friday and Sunday as well as Saturday during Granitefest. While the festival is free to enter, carnival games and rides are on a pay-to-play basis or $25 for an all-day pass.
