Faith girls fifth at Marble Falls cross-country meet

MARBLE FALLS — Experience was the most valuable part of running in the Marble Falls Invitational on Sept. 22 for the Flames, according to head coach Steve McCannon.

“We have all sophomores on our team, so we are still gaining experience and confidence,” he said. “Our fourth and fifth runners will really decide where we finish on the podium. Cross country is the purest team sport.”

RESULTS: Girls varsity — 16, Brandi Kuhlmann, 14:29; 21, Christina Lykken, 14:58.5; 24, Sierra Brinkley, 15:07; 31, Rachel Ormsby, 16:33; 38, Preston Peach, 17:47. Boys junior varsity — 19, Reagan Vaughn, 22:40; 22, Alec Gonzales, 23:16; 30, Jake Metcalf, 24:49; 31, Alex Defily, 24:53; 32, Nathaniel Moses, 24:57.

QUOTABLE: “This was a good meet for us with good competition as Navarro, Marble Falls and Boerne are good teams and help is prepare us for what is next. The course was a little long, but our times were still right where we need to be at this point,” McCannon said.
