Faith Academy boys, 6th with 56 points at regional meet

HALLETSVILLE — Marble Falls Faith Academy junior pole vaulter Jake Diamond remains on course in defending the state title he captured last year at the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools track-and-field meet.

He won the event at the regional meet April 21 with a vault of 11 feet 6 inches, qualifying for the state meet May 4-5 in Waco.

“He won it pretty easily,” Flames head coach Russ Roberts said.

RESULTS: 400 – 1, Brian Freeman, 53.44; 800 – 2, Casey Clendennen, 2:11.55; 4×100 relay – 4, Faith (Clendennen, Freeman, Jake Diamond, Royale Brown), 46.92; 4×400 relay – Faith (J.C. Perea, Diamond, Brown, Clendennen), 3:42.06; pole vault – 1, Diamond, 11-6; triple jump – Freeman, 33-0.

QUOTABLE: “The wind was lethal. It affected everybody,” Roberts said.
