MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School track teams are taking full advantage of hosting the District 25-4A Meet.

Senior Jesùs Manzano finished second in the 3,200-meter run in 10 minutes, 12.33 seconds to qualify for the Class 4A Region IV Meet in San Antonio.

He joins junior Shiloh Ribera, who was second in the pole vault thanks to clearing 12 feet.

Sophomore Anjel Guerrero placed sixth in the 3,200 meters in 10:26.33.

As the first alternate in the shot put, junior Cyril Lemon is expected to advance to regionals thanks to a heave of 47 feet, 5 3/4 inches.

Head coach Kyle Futrell said Killeen coaches indicated to him that Michael Cummings, who was second with a throw of 48-3 1/2, wanted to concentrate wholeheartedly on the discus.

Several athletes have advanced to the finals of the running events, which will be conducted 5 p.m. Thursday at Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Drive.

The top eight in each preliminary race advanced to the final.

Senior Willie Nelson finished second in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.41 seconds and second in the 300 hurdles in 40.70 seconds.

Sophomore Johnny Garcia finished eighth in the 400 meters in 54.61 seconds.

Senior Cooper Bowen came in fifth in the 200 meters in 23.70 seconds.

Marble Falls had several runners who competed but did not advance to the finals.

Junior Michael Villa finished 13th in the 100 meters in 12.14 seconds

In the 200 meters, juniors Steven Castillo and Ralph Woods came in 11th in 24.17 and 17th in 24.99 seconds.

All field events were completed Wednesday.

Lemon was seventh in the discus with a throw of 123-10, while sophomore Cody Miller finished 12th with a toss of 105-9.

Miller also came in 12th in the shot put with a heave of 41-5 1/2, while senior Thomas Crawford was 16th with a mark of 34-5 3/4.

Junior Shane Minnick tied for fifth in the high jump by clearing 5-8.

Sophomore Zed Woerner came in ninth in the long jump with a leap of 18-5, while Ribera was 12th with a mark of 16-11 1/2, and Woods was 13th with a jump of 16-4 1/2.

Woerner also finished eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 39-4 1/4, while Woods was 13th in 37-7 1/2.

Junior Dominic Downey came in fourth in the pole vault by clearing 11-6, and senior Zach Kinzel came in sixth after clearing 10-6.

Going into the track and field meet, the coach said he thought sophomore Whitney Ullbricht had a great chance at performing well in the 100, 200 and 400-meter runs.

Ullbricht did not disappoint Wednesday, advancing to the finals in all three events with times of 13.27 seconds, 27.99 seconds and 66.35 seconds.

Freshman Katelyn Corley finished sixth in the 3,200 meters in 12:52.57.

Sophomore Priscilla Martinez was fifth in the high jump by clearing 4-10 and 15th in the 400 meters in 71.10.

Ullbricht was 12th in the high jump at 4-6.

Junior Amber Lecates finished fifth in the pole vault by clearing 8-0, while senior Kyli Bird came in sixth at 7-6.

Several athletes also competed in the junior varsity division.

Freshman Stephanie Garcia came in second in the 300 hurdles in 50.85 seconds, while freshman Tori Robertson was third in the 200 meters in 29.18 seconds.

Junior Gloria Angel was sixth in the 400 meters in 68.57 seconds.

Garcia finished eighth in the long jump with a leap of 13-2 1/2 and fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 30-4 1/2.

Freshman Kincey Bauers was second in the pole vault by clearing 6-0.

In boys junior varsity preliminaries, freshman Cody Schulz won the 400 meters in 55.94 seconds, while freshman Brian Shrubar was fifth in 56.51.

Sophomore Aaron Hinojosa won the triple jump with a leap of 38-10 and finished eighth in the 200 meters in 24.94.

Junior Crockett Savage placed third in the 110 hurdles in 16.85 and sixth in 300 hurdles in 45.71.

Sophomore Layo Zurita and freshman Rey Baltazar came in sixth and seventh in the discus with tosses of 112-5 1/2 and 109-10 1/2, respectively.

Schulz placed eighth in the long jump with a mark of 17-3 1/2.

Junior Cage Johnson came in second in the pole vault by clearing 10-6, while freshman Phillip Terranella was fourth, edging freshman Justin Gregg, who was fifth. Both cleared 10-0, but Terranella beat his teammate on jumps. Junior Justin Cox was seventh by vaulting 8-6.
