The “Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes” workshop will offer information for diabetics to make healthy food choices, manage medications, avoid eye and foot problems and get enough exercise.

The course is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 7 and Aug. 14 at No. 1 Community Drive, next to the fire station on FM 2147.

“An excellent assortment of health-care professionals affiliated with Llano Memorial Healthcare System will be available to serve as instructors,” said Marilyn Hale, the Llano County Texas AgriLife Extension Office agent.

“Managing Your Blood Glucose” will be addressed by physician’s assistant Jinny Sumrall.

Pharmacist Jennifer Lockmiller will discuss diabetes medicines.

Dr. Peter Davenport will provide information on preventing and managing complications.

Kelly Tarpley, a licensed dietitian, will shed light on topics related to nutrition and diabetes with four presentations: “Nutrition, the First Step to Diabetes Management”; “One Diet – No Longer the Sole Option”; “For Good Measure at Home and Eating Out”; and “Nutritional Levels.”

Though there is no charge to attend, pre-registration is required so that enough handouts can be prepared.
