MARBLE FALLS — Just how cruel was the District 25-4A track and field meet for Marble Falls High School April 11-12?

Two athletes — sophomore Teagan Hall in the shot put and senior Anjel Guerrero in the 1,600 meters — and the varsity girls 1,600-meter relay team all set new personal bests but still failed to finish in the top three in order to advance to the Class 4A Region IV meet.

Guerrero finished in 4 minutes 40.63 seconds for fifth overall. Senior Whitney Ulbricht also was fifth in the 100 meters in 13.07 seconds. Hall earned a mark of 33 feet 11 inches but was a half-inch short from tying for third and finished fourth.

Meanwhile, the relay team again set a school record, clocking 4:07.52 and finishing fourth.

“That was the fourth time they set the school record in the mile relay,” Marble Falls head coach Kyle Futrell said. “We have all the respect in the world for (the seniors’) loyalty and effort for years.”
