The city of Burnet opened up development opportunities during the regular City Council meeting Feb. 26.
City Council authorized the Burnet Economic Development Corp. to purchase about 13.5 acres at the corner of U.S. 281 and Houston Clinton Drive.
The purchase is for $325,000.
Evan Milliorn, assistant director of Administrative Services, said the land could have a number of uses.
The site is in a part of town that has the second-highest traffic counts in the city, Milliorn said.
“It’s very attractive for future retail and QSR (quick-service restaurant) development,” he said.

Simply here to say to the future developers…please no more fast food businesses in Burnet. Taco Bell, Chicken Express, Sonic, Subway are more than enough. Carry on.
Great, as long as it’s not a business that is going to just be digging a hole in the ground or multiplying the already high number of extremely heavy/dirty vehicles in our roads tearing them up and creating unsafe driving conditions for the community. Criminals are the only people I can think of who don’t support their local police, fire, and ems.
I do not support the justice system here in Burnet.The cops are crooked and are revenue generators for the city.I have been harrased multiple times by the Burnet p.d. while doing nothing illegal.The courts here will try to take every penny you have.So no I don’t support thugs in a gang with guns.
That isnt my experience at all. I’ve only ever seen the local pd “harrass” people who are doing something illegal, are uncooperative, or are otherwise showing a bad attitude. Yes, if you’re convicted courts in the US will levy their power to send a strong message.
Don’t forget, Burnet PD is looking to keep up appearances by building another unneeded city building.
I would hope that the city fathers would use tax payers money to develop new jobs for the area and not to compete with entities that provided the taxes in the first place. If new retail or service industries are justified by economic conditions they don’t need government subsidies otherwise they just take economic support from existing locals. I. E. Walmart

The Submitted Content does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights, privacy rights, publicity rights, or defame any person.
It complies with all applicable laws and does not contain viruses, malware, or prohibited content.
You will not submit false, misleading, or confidential information.
No Compensation You understand and agree that you will receive no compensation for the submission or use of your Submitted Content.
Indemnification You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Company, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your breach of this Agreement or any third-party claims related to your Submitted Content.
Moral Rights and Publicity You waive any moral rights or rights of attribution in the Submitted Content to the extent permitted by law. Company may use your name, username, or likeness in connection with the Submitted Content if applicable.
Termination and Removal Company may, in its sole discretion, edit, refuse to post, or remove any Submitted Content at any time without notice. This Agreement survives any termination.
Governing Law This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts located in Burnet County, Texas.
Entire Agreement This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between the parties and supersedes all prior agreements. Modifications must be in writing. By submitting content, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement.
