Highland Lakes residents can explore private aircraft, emergency response equipment, and recent airport development during the Granite Shoals Airport Open House on Saturday, Oct. 24.

The free event runs from 10 a.m. to noon at Bob Sylvester Airport, 710 Forest Hills Drive. Attendees get an up-close look at private aircraft, Granite Shoals fire and police department equipment, and a Marble Falls emergency evacuation helicopter.

The open house reflects the airport’s growth beyond its previous “Meet the Pilots” events, Airport Board President Robin Ruff said.

“Past years have been known as Meet the Pilots, but as the airport has developed, we have much more to show our residents and area enthusiasts, as well as them seeing the development take place,” Ruff told DailyTrib.

Ruff encouraged attendees to arrive early, as planes are expected to fly into the airport between 9 and 10 a.m.
