Babies are back at Baylor Scott & White-Marble Falls

Baylor Scott and White-Marble Falls keeps labor and delivery

As of Tuesday, Sept. 8, Baylor Scott & White is again scheduling labor and delivery services at its Marble Falls location, reversing a decision earlier this year to discontinue the services by the end of July.

The decision to move Marble Falls deliveries to the Lakeway location came after a May 26 announcement that the Baylor Scott & White Health system would lay off about 3 percent of its employees, reduce pay for some, close small clinics, and discontinue underutilized services.

“Change is never easy,” Baylor Scott & White Health officials said in a statement at the time.

The change would allow the Marble Falls hospital to offer more surgical services such as orthopedics, ophthalmology, and endocrinology, they said.

On July 29, the decision was reversed and the labor and delivery department reopened following Labor Day weekend.

“After continued thoughtful consideration, we are pleased to share that Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Marble Falls will maintain its labor & delivery (L&D) services at the Hill Country hospital,” read a new statement from Baylor Scott & White.

In addition to labor and delivery, the Marble Falls facility offers other women’s services, including prenatal care, childbirth classes for expectant mothers, outpatient postnatal care, gynecological care, women’s imaging, and breast cancer surgery.

Baylor Scott and White-Marble Falls is located at 801 Texas 71 West in Marble Falls.
