FROM STAFF REPORTS

MARBLE FALLS — The Hill Country Blenders kick off their “cross-country” road trip “A State of Mine” on May 9.

You won’t have to pack a bag for the “trip.” The Blenders annual spring show will take you on a vocal tour of Georgia, Tennessee, California, New York and Virginia. But don’t worry. They aren’t leaving out the Lone Star State.

The concert is 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 501 12th St.

The Hill Country Blenders have created a strong following with their barbershop chorus, a truly American singing form. The group is bringing along a couple of friends for the trip: Sterling and Highlights. These foursomes from Central Texas are regional favorites for barbershop quartet fans.

In fact, Sterling has performed across the United States, Europe and Canada. The group is a four-time Barbershop Harmony Society International semifinalist, making it among the best in the world.

Sterling’s latest project is a CD called “Sunday Morning,” which is a combination of Southern gospel and classic hymns.

Whether a longtime barbershop quartet fan or someone interested in hearing it for the first time, “A State of Mine” will definitely showcase some of the best in the genre.

Tickets for the event are $10 and available at the door, from Blenders members or at Mustang Lube on RR 1431 across from McDonald’s in Marble Falls.

Call (979) 255-5024 for more information on the Blenders or the event.
