One dead, one injured in Burnet County crash

Update: This story was updated at 9:22 a.m. on Sept. 9 with additional information sent by Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Billy Ray III to DailyTrib staff regarding the crash, including the identity of the deceased individual.

One person was killed and another injured in a multi-vehicle crash on the afternoon of Sunday, Sept. 6, in northeastern Burnet County.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety officials, troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash at around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday on U.S. 183 in Burnet County.

On the scene, troopers determined that a Ford Explorer traveling northbound crossed into the southbound lane for an unknown reason and struck a Volkswagen Beetle.

The driver of the Volkswagen, 52-year-old Sylvia Acuna, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another person was injured in the collision, Burnet County Sheriff’s Office Captain Mike Sorenson told DailyTrib on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The crash is still under investigation. No further information was available at the time of this article’s publication.
