Alex Payson, president of the Marble Falls ISD Board of Trustees, has been named the recipient of the Marble Falls Education Foundation’s 2026 Excellence in Education Award. He was honored during halftime at the Sept. 4 Marble Falls Mustangs football game.
Payson has served on the board of trustees since 2017 and is currently the president. Through the Leadership Texas Association of School Boards program, he also earned the designation of “Master Trustee” in June. During his time on the school board, Payson has focused on strengthening public education and expanding opportunities for students throughout the district.
“Alex embodies every quality this award was created to recognize,” Jeanna Jette, executive director of the Marble Falls Education Foundation, said in a media release. “Whether he is advocating for students and educators, helping families recover from disaster, or investing in the community through his business, Alex leads with humility, compassion, and an extraordinary willingness to serve. Our schools and our entire community are better because he is here, leading the way and inspiring others.”
Payson’s community involvement extends beyond MFISD.
He serves as director of logistics and disaster relief for the Ark of Highland Lakes and as a Texas volunteer coordinator for Operation BBQ Relief. He is also the founder of Numinous Coffee Roasters, which opened in 2015.
“Alex’s impact reaches far beyond any one position or organization,” Jette said. “He consistently steps forward when people need help, approaches challenges with thoughtfulness and creativity, and uses his leadership to make life better for others. Our selection committee was proud to choose him for this honor.”
The Excellence in Education Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated years of dedication to creating a positive impact in the lives of students. The Marble Falls Education Foundation supports students and educators in MFISD through community partnerships and charitable giving, including classroom grants, student scholarships, and other programs designed to expand educational opportunities throughout the district.
