Lake Shores Church trucking in tasty food offerings for celebration of families

MARBLE FALLS — Approaching its fifth anniversary, Lake Shores Church decided not to celebrate the occasion.
Instead, the church is celebrating families Aug. 25.
“We started to say, ‘OK, what if we made it something for the community?” said Jennifer Hall, Lake Shores Church project manager. “And it morphs into the community and, specifically, to families.”
The church begins a seven-week series that day on the seven habits of successful families for its 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. services.
And to celebrate families, there will be food trucks, games, a kid’s bounce house, a DJ and more at the church, 704 U.S. 281.
Three popular food trucks from Austin — The Peached Tortilla, Hat Creek Burger Co. and Double Trouble BBQ — begin serving breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and lunch until 1 p.m. All other activities are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Booking well-known, award-winning food trucks for a Sunday morning in Marble Falls might seem difficult.
“It was easier than I thought it would be,” Hall said. “They didn’t even question (the distance).”
Hall said the celebration kicks off the school year.
“There are a lot of struggling families in this community,” Hall said. “We’re hoping we can try to help. Sometimes it’s not about the money; it’s about learning how to be better people.”
The celebration is open to the community, Hall said. The food trucks will accept cash or credit cards.
