Oatmeal Festival returns Sept. 26

The 49th annual Oatmeal Festival is Saturday, Sept. 26, taking over downtown Bertram for a full day packed with parades, live music, and small-town pride.

The event is free to attend, and gives visitors a chance to peruse local shops, eats, and sips, while celebrating one of the oldest communities in the Highland Lakes. 

Festivities kick off at 8 a.m. with the Run for Your Oats fun run, the Grand Parade strolls the streets at 10:30 a.m., and live music will fill the air starting at noon.

Schedule of events

  • 8 a.m. – 3.3-mile Run for Your Oats
  • 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. – Car show
  • 9:30 a.m. – Pet parade
  • 10:30 a.m. – Grand Parade
  • 11:30-noon – Wacky games (tortilla toss, cow chip kicking, stick horse racing, and more)
  • Noon – Oatmeal bake-off winners announced
  • Noon – Washer tournament
  • Noon-4 p.m. – Kids zone (kiddie train, backyard games, oatmeal dig, and more)
  • Noon-5 p.m. – Live music
  • 7-10 p.m. – Street dance featuring Eley Buck Davis and Ben Watson and The Hired Guns
