What can be better than fresh-picked Hill Country peaches, a selection of Texas wines and tasty sausage? If that has your mouth salivating a bit, then get ready for the annual Night in Old Fredericksburg this weekend, July 19-20.
You’ll find the action on Main Street between Adams and Crockett on July 19 from 6 p.m. to midnight and on July 20 from 4 p.m. to midnight. Admission is $6 for adults and $1 for children 12 and younger. If you’re wearing a Texas Fest Race Meet armband, admission is free!
The two-day party celebrates the summer with plenty of fun, food and music. You’ll find out just why German polka music gets people up and dancing. The music doesn’t start and stop with the magic of the “oompa” sounds either. Along with the traditional German sounds, you’ll also find some totally Texas bands and musicians.
Of course, music is only part of the show. Food takes center stage in this affair. From the delicious smoked meats and bratwurst to Southern-cooked delights, Night in Old Fredericksburg will keep you fed and happy. And don’t forget the sweet-tooth favorites such as funnel cakes, baked goods and even crepes.
It all goes down better when chased by a locally produced wine or a true Texas beer.
So polish up on your German (which, in this case, is as simple as, “Hey, I’ll have a bratwurst”) and head over to the festivities at the Marktplatz on Main Street between Adams and Crockett streets in downtown Fredericksburg.
Oh yeah, lederhosen is optional.
