LEANDER — The Marble Falls High School girls basketball team failed to force its will and intead allowed Leander to dictate the game in a 45-30 loss Dec. 14.
"We didn’t look to attack the basket," head coach Chris Jost said. "We just didn’t play very well."
The Lady Lions outscored Marble Falls 13-7 in the first quarter and 13-6 in the third period. .
"They contested everything we did," Jost said.
Still, the Lady Mustangs kept the deficit in single digits but couldn’t convert opportunities themselves to get closer. Marble Falls was 11-of-23 from the foul line.
Leander had an answer for just about every play in the Lady Mustangs scheme, Jost said, thanks to attending the Marble Falls victory against Dripping Springs three nights earlier.
"They have shooters," he said. "When we try to slow the pace down to take the air out of the ball, they adjusted to the tempo well."
