Faith boys lose to Austin Royals

MARBLE FALLS — The Faith Academy of Marble Falls boys basketball team lost to Austin Royals 55-39 on Nov. 30.

The game was much closer, however, thanks to a strong Flames defense in the third quarter that allowed Faith to go on an 8-2 run, trimming Austin Royals’ lead to 31-30 with about two minutes left.

But Austin Royals answered in the fourth quarter after converting two baskets and hitting free throws, the result of the shooter getting fouled on a 3-point attempt.

Austin Royals had the more seasoned group thanks to having six weeks of after-school practice. Meanwhile, the Flames have had four practices, all during the week, after most of the players finished their commitment to football.

"I thought in the first half we played pretty hard," Faith head coach Randy Denton said. "We’re obviously not shooting the ball well. I was happy with the effort. I was happy with the defense. The defensive intensity brought us back."
