Faith Academy girls advance to tourney championship after beating Canyon Lake

JOHNSON CITY — The Faith Academy of Marble Falls girls basketball team will play in the championship of the LBJ Eagles Invitational Tournament after beating Canyon Lake 44-28 on Nov. 30.

The championship game is 1 p.m. Dec. 1.

The Nov. 30 game against Canyon Lake was close until midway through the third period. The Lady Flames outscored the Lady Eagles 18-6 in the final 10 minutes for the victory.

"Very seldom in a game do I feel like we’re completely out of sync," Faith head coach Jerry English said. "I was talking to them about nothing we were doing was the way we do it. Sometimes, the way you do it isn’t good enough. I think we were just flat and needed to have more energy."

TOP PLAYERS: Taylor Denton 15 points, Bailey Brinkley 9 points, Kristen Cherry 8 points

BEST OF THE REST: Points — Juliette Fisher 6, Joanna Piatek 4, Sierra Brinkley 2; the Lady Flames were 5-of-17 from the foul line.

RECORD: Faith is 11-1.
