Lady Flames’ defense too much for Blanco in Johnson City tournament

JOHNSON CITY — Punishing post defense propelled the Faith Academy of Marble Falls girls basketball team to a 61-40 victory against Blanco during the opening of the LBJ Eagle Invitational Tournament on Nov. 30.

"I loved our defense early," Lady Flames head coach Jerry English said. "I thought our defense set the tone. Juliette Fisher and Joanna Piatek just did an outstanding job inside. We got steal after steal of them trying to feed the posts."

English said the score could have been worse for Blanco, but his players missed several shots. Still, he couldn’t complain about the outcome, he said.

"I was pretty pleased with my kids," he said. "Hopefully, we can keep building on that."
