Marble Falls 70, Lampasas 25 on Nov. 13

MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School girls basketball team put all the elements together in earning their first win of the 2012-2013 season Nov. 13 against Lampasas.

The Lady Mustangs started the game with a fast-break bucket from junior guard Sarah Stripling thanks to an assist from junior point guard Blanca Fonseca. That began an 18-0 run that lasted three minutes.

Marble Falls outscored Lampasas in every quarter during the game. The Lady Badgers scored three points in the first quarter and a total of seven points in the first half.

In addition, three Lady Mustangs were in double figures. In the two losses this season for Marble Falls, only one athlete was in double figures, which was a concern for new head coach Chris Jost.

"It was a great team effort," he said of the game against Lampasas. "We came out on fire. We made shots. This is just what we needed. We wanted to assert ourselves."

TOP PLAYERS: Sarah Stripling 26 points, Hailey Stephens and Teagan Hall 10 each

ON OFFENSE: Points — Kaitlyn Naumann 9, Katy Bartels 7 and Blanca Fonseca 4

QUOTABLE: "We were going to have to have some help to beat people. We got that (against Lampasas)," Marble Falls head coach Chris Jost said.

RECORDS: Marble Falls is 1-2.

UP NEXT: Marble Falls vs. Manor 10:30 a.m. Nov. 15 in the opener of the American Bank of Texas Tournament at Max Copeland Gym, 2101 Mustang Drive in Marble Falls.
