BROWNWOOD — Down by as many as 18 points in the second half, the Marble Falls High School girls basketball team rallied back in the final two minutes in its game against Brownwood on Nov. 10. But it wasn’t enough as the Lady Mustangs lost 54-51.

Brownwood defenders clamped down on Marble Falls junior guard Sarah Stripling before she could attempt a game-tying 3-pointer, Lady Mustangs head coach Chris Jost said.

"(Officials) let the players decide at the last second," Jost said.

Still, the coach said his team started the contest slowly. In the final four minutes of the first half, though, Marble Falls was only down by four points, but Brownwood went on a 15-2 run to build a double-digit lead.

For the game, the Lady Mustangs were in foul trouble and committed more than 30 turnovers.

Stripling finished with 24 points, including 17 in the second half. Freshman post Reann Hall added eight points and nine rebounds.

Marble Falls starts its Bank of America Tournament against Manor at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 15 and then and plays New Braunfels High at 6:30 p.m. at Max Copeland Gym, 2101 Mustang Drive.

Other teams playing in the tournament include San Angelo Central, Plainview, Floresville, Austin Westlake and District 25-4A member Cedar Park Vista Ridge.
