Marble Falls 12th at regional meet

SAN ANTONIO — The Marble Falls High School cross-country team will send a male runner to the Class 4A state cross-country meet for the first time since Olympian Leonel Manzano went in 2003. Junior Jordan Wright ran his personal best and finished ninth at the regional meet Nov. 3 and will make his first appearance at the state meet.

“He beat the runners who beat him at (District 25-4A) meet,” head coach Anthony Torns said.

As a team, the Mustangs were 12th overall out of 23 teams.

“The boys did not have their best day as a group, which I attribute to inexperience and nerves, but they all ran hard and will all be back next year,” Torns said.

Meanwhile, Lady Mustang Sarah Stripling was 13th overall and “beat several girls who beat her at the (district) meet,” Torns said.

RESULTS: Boys (179 runners) — 9, Jordan Wright, 16:06.30; 61, D’Anthony Wall, 17:50.30; 70, Nick Cano, 17:58.80; 81, Chance Daniel, 18:07.90; 98, Cody Skipper, 18:27.60; 145, Colten Hagood, 19:20.40. Girls — 13, Sarah Stripling, 19:46

UP NEXT: Class 4A state meet 1 p.m. Nov. 10 at Old Settlers Park, 3300 Palm Valley Blvd. in Round Rock.
