Tiebreakers go in favor of Billies against Marble Falls in tennis match

FREDERICKSBURG — Tiebreaker losses were the telling statistic for the Mustangs against Fredericksburg on Sept. 18.

The Billies won five of the seven doubles matches and put themselves in good position to take the head-to-head total, 10-5.

Junior Mike Stripling came from behind to win the second set and then the tiebreaker in No. 1 boys singles.

RESULTS: Boys (singles) — Mike Stripling won 2-6, 6-0, 10-5, Michael Holder lost 2-6, 0-6, Liam Baskin didn’t finish, Jason Rogers lost 4-6, 4-6, Jared Edwards won 6-4, 6-1, Daniel Baxter lost 3-6, 2-6. Doubles – Stripling/Holder lost 4-6, 5-7, Edwards/Rogers lost 2-6, 4-6, Baskin/Baxter lost 2-6, 0-6. Girls (singles) — Madison Dyer won 6-4, 6-0, Hannah Dockery lost 5-7, 5-7, Mattie Cryer lost 7-5, 3-6, 7-10, Kelsey McCasland didn’t finish, Makenzie Harrison didn’t finish. Doubles – Dyer/McCasland won 4-6, 6-3, 10-6, M. Cryer/Dockery won 7-5, 6-2, Harrison/Parten lost 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 12-14.
