Faith Academy girls varsity, 5th out of 7 teams

Faith Academy girls junior varsity, 7th out of 10 teams

JUNCTION — The Faith Academy girls varsity track team began the season by scoring 52 points while the junior varsity earned 23 points at the recent Frank Hubbell Memorial Relays.

Kylie Cozby took two seconds off her personal best in both hurdle events in the girls varsity division, said head coach Steve McCannon. Both she and sister Kentlee Cozby will be counted on to provide leadership, McCannon said.

Sarah Kylie set a personal best in the triple jump.

RESULTS: Varsity — 100 hurdles, Kylie Cozby, 6th, 18.05; 300 hurdles, Ky. Cozby, 5th, 51.4; 4×200 relay (Nicole Johnson, Savannah Reed, Hana Darwin, Kentlee Cozby), 6th, 2:02.60; long jump, Kentlee Cozby, 15-4, 3rd; triple jump, Sarah Kiley, 32-9.5, 3rd; Ke. Cozby, 31-9, 5th; high jump, Sarah Kiley, 3rd, 4-8.

Junior varsity — 4×100 relay (Valerie Moses, Calley Cozby, Rebecca Graham, Stephanie Hughes), 2nd, 1:02.58; 4×100 relay (Valerie Moses, Calley Cozby, Rebecca Graham, Stephanie Hughes), 2nd, 2:09.62; high jump, Peace Preston, 4-0, 3rd; discus, Bekah Graham, 81-2.5, 1st; shot put, Bekah Graham, 25-10, 4th.

QUOTABLE: “I have a good idea of where we are at, and we will try different lineup at the next two meets to find the right competitive mix,” head coach Steve McCannon said.
