Marble Falls track team begins season Feb. 18
Marble Falls at Liberty Hill Panther Relay Meet
MARBLE FALLS — The first leg of the season begins at a relay meet for the Marble Falls High School track team Feb. 18.
The Mustangs will have relay teams in the 400, 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meters as well as the sprint and distance medley relays and the 100-, 110 and 300-meter hurdles.
TOP PERFORMERS: Cody Schulz (200 meters), Priscilla Martinez (high jump), Rey Baltazar (shot put) were all regional qualifiers in 2011.
THE REST: Boys – Justin Gregg, Jesùs Perez, Rafael Villarreal, Lane Bingham (pole vault) all cleared 9-11 feet in first week; Aidin Parnell, Keith Jerome, Antonio Graham, Travis Sparks, Austin Ellis, Johnny Garcia, Anjel Guerrero and Aaron Hinojosa. Girls — Tiffany Winters, Haley Coulter, Blanca Fonseca, Sarah Stripling, Jessica Winn, Megan Gonzales, Whitney Ulbricht, Haley Stephens, sisters Kelsey and Kency Bauers, Sierra Guerra, Teagan Hall, Darby Hibbs, Meghan Gonzales, Danielle Rios and Shelby Jordan.
BIG EXPECTATIONS: The boys in the Class of 2014 were undefeated at track meets in the seventh and eighth grades. Several coaches believe there’s a correlation of success between track and field and football, so the results of the 43 boys will be closely watched this season. The Lady Mustang girls junior varsity cross-country team — Guerra, Hibbs, Kelsey Bauers, Rios and Fonseca — won the district championship in October.
