Knights take lead, Faith Academy fights to keep up
Faith Academy 26, Austin Hill Country 62
MARBLE FALLS — Austin Hill Country took a 15-6 lead in the first period and held the Faith Academy boys basketball team to 10 first-half points for the victory.
The game ended 62-26 with a loss for Faith.
The Knights took advantage of second- and third-chance opportunities each possession, which made it difficult for the Flames to respond offensively.
"They’re a good ball club," head coach John Berkman said. "They play well as a team and have a lot of weapons."
The Knights hit shots all over the paint, using their height advantage and their ability to convert open looks.
"They got us in the first half on offensive rebounds. They have three guys who each average six plus rebounds a game. That hurts us big time," the coach said.
Meanwhile, sophomore forward Reagan Vaughn led Faith with nine points thanks to driving to the basket and drawing fouls.
"We turned the ball over early," Berkman said. "We missed shots we had been making."
Faith will travel to face Bulverde Bracken, 670 Old Boerne Road in Bulverde, 7:30 p.m. Jan. 6.
