Bulldogs beat Eastview with 3-pointer

BURNET — The Burnet High School boys basketball team finally got the last laugh with seconds to remain.

Tied at 50-50 with Georgetown Eastview on Dec. 31, the Bulldogs got the win thanks to a 3-pointer by sophomore guard Derek Kiser with an assist from senior guard Grant Cole.

Marble Falls was able to hit a 3-pointer against the Bulldogs on Dec. 6 for the win at the horn.

Cole led the Bulldogs with 18 points, including going 8 of 9 from the foul line, in the victory. Senior post Jacob Pollard added 16 points.

As a team, Burnet was 16 of 20 from the free-throw line for 80 percent.

The contest was played on the heels of the Bulldogs finishing 2-2 at the Gatesville holiday tournament.

Burnet lost to Copperas Cove 59-37 in the final of the silver bracket after winning two games in the pool play against McGregor 54-35 and Hico 54-29 but losing to Waco University 92-50.

Cole and Pollard each averaged 13 points during the tournament.

The Bulldogs play at St. Stephens, 601 FM 2268 in Salado, at 7 p.m. Jan. 3.
