EXTRA POINTS: Lady Mustangs have mentality for district challenges
MARBLE FALLS — After finishing the Mansfield Rotary Invitational Tournament with an 0-4 record, some fans fear the Marble Falls High School girls basketball team might not be mentally strong enough to recover as they gear up for District 25-4A play.
After all, the Lady Mustangs (10-12, 1-1) lost to Ennis 55-30, Fort Worth Dunbar 49-41, Cibolo Steele 56-34 and Canyon 56-16.
In the second half against Canyon, Marble Falls only scored three points. In the first half against Steele, the Lady Mustangs dropped in nine, and against Ennis in the second and fourth periods, they scored five.
Even worse, Marble Falls had to play without junior post Kiara Etheridge, who suffered what seems to be a season-ending knee injury.
Mansfield has the reputation of featuring the state’s best teams and even brings in Har-Ber High School of Springdale, Ark., one of best in that state.
