Flames can’t sink last-second shot in loss to Veritas
MARBLE FALLS — Fittingly, a contest that went back and forth between the Faith Academy boys basketball team and Veritas came down to a shot with seconds remaining.
With 14 seconds left in the game and the Flames (0-2) trailing 30-29, Faith head coach John Berkman called a timeout, drew up a play and watched as his players move to the right spots to take the shot.
But the ball rolled in and out of the hoop.
A mad scramble ensued with Faith getting the ball but not setting up in time for a second attempt. Veritas escaped with the 31-30 win.
