MARBLE FALLS — Not bad for a team that’s transitioning.

After 10 games, the Faith Academy girls basketball squad is 8-2 and was the runners-up in the Bulverde Bracken and Florence tournaments.

The Lady Flames’ two losses have been by a combined seven points. One of those losses, in the final of the Bracken tournament, was to Midland Christian, one of the top teams in private schools ranks. The other was to Austin St. Michael’s in the Florence title game.

“Our goal was to win one tournament,” head coach Jerry English said. “I thought to be here with that might be a little too optimistic. I thought we played well against Midland Christian. If we played them five times, we’d go 3-2. I think we were evenly matched.”

At the beginning of the season, English preached patience because although Faith had leading scorers senior Brooke Field and junior Bailey Brinkley back, the team was searching for a new point guard and at least one new starter.
