Boys and girls teams working on chemistry
MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School girls and boys basketball teams might be experiencing some of the same obstacles.
The Lady Mustangs (5-4) finished the toughest stretch of their predistrict schedule, playing six games in seven days. They finished their own American Bank of Texas Tournament last weekend with a 3-2 record, losing to Liberty Hill and Plainview and beating Early, Kerrville Tivy and San Antonio Central. Before breaking for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Lady Mustangs defeated Lampasas on Monday and lost to Lorena Tuesday.
By contrast, the Mustangs lost all four games at the San Antonio Northside Tournament last weekend but crushed Fredericksburg on Monday to ensure a happy holiday.
Junior post Kiara Etheridge and sophomore guard Sarah Stripling continue to pace the Lady Mustangs offensively. Both average about 15 points a game.
Sophomore swingman Garrett Gray, a starter on last year’s playoff team, has been asked to do more than he did last season. Gray goes to the post when senior Gayln Griffin or junior Rey Baltazar are out of the game. He goes to small forward or guard when needed.
