MARBLE FALLS — The Highland Lakes Track Club aims to continue a tradition of sending its runners to the national meet when it hosts the Region 12 Cross Country Meet of United States Track and Field on Saturday, Nov. 19.

In addition, the club will conduct the Manzano 5K run at 8 a.m. to start the day’s races, which all will be at the Marble Falls High School cross-country practice course. Attendees should park at the visitor’s parking lot of Mustang Stadium by turning left at Manzano Mile off RR 1431 just past Mustang Drive.

Coach Steve McCannon said he expects about 225 youth to compete in the races that start after the Manzano 5K.

“Everyone is vying for a trip to nationals,” he said.

The national meet will be in Myrtle Beach, S.C., on Dec. 10.

The top three teams and top 20 individuals will advance to the meet.
